Introduction

For the first time in Nepal, Government of Nepal in collaboration with Dhulikhel Hospital Kathmandu University Hospital, and other affiliated university hospitals of Kathmandu University and major hospitals of Bagmati province are planning to conduct the World Academic Council of Emergency Medicine- Tabletop Exercise and Communication in Disaster Medicine (WACEM- TOPCOM) in collaboration with Hospital Selayang, Malaysia, the World Academic Council of Emergency Medicine, INDO-US Emergency and Trauma Collaborative (INDUSEM), All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Nagpur, General Practice and Emergency Medicine Association of Nepal, and Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences.

1st -2nd Dec (1 and ½ day): Preconference (Workshops, skills station, presentation)
2nd- 3rd December: Conference WACEM- TOPCOM

Aim: The aim of this conference is to inform, train, and update health care workers (doctors, nurses, paramedics, and administrative staff, including supportive services employees working in hospitals) on various types of disaster management, with a focus on improving intra or interdepartmental and interhospital communication and coordination during major disaster events.

The specific aim are as follows:

  1. To develop technical and non-technical knowledge, skills and attitudes during disaster response.
  2. To improve Disaster response under Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) implementation.
  3. To improve leadership skills during Disaster response.
  4. To improve patient and healthcare workers safety during Disaster.
  5. To improve Intra or Inter Departmental and Interhospital communication and Coordination skills.
  6. To strengthen hub and Satellite hospitals networking.
